Nature Walk #1

So last Monday was a beautiful day and my kiddos talked me into letting them skip school....not something I do often but a gorgeous day in January so I did. And we decided to take a nature walk through the backyard into the neighbors property and down by the creek.

Running around the pond.
See the twig in the water shaped like in O....Owen spotted that and pointed it out to us!

When you gotta to.....you gotta go.....

Owen found this leaf and gave it to Katelin....it's as big as her head!

My pretty girl!

He wanted to walk by himself and he took a few tumbles....can you tell???

Walking down our gravel road.....
Throwing rocks into the creek.....

Evan really really liked throwing rocks down there....I kept holding on to his jeans because I was afraid he would go over.....the boy has no fear!

He carried this little blue ball almost the entire walk until he threw it in the creek....then the other kids threw big rocks at it until they got it to go through the bridge and out the other side. They were so excited about it!

Back at home after our walk!

Shrinky Dinks....

We decided to have a family fun night that involved shrinky dinks
and sharpies!

Daddy even put plywood on our kitchen table to give us a good work space!

Not only did we color our shrinky dinks but we colored all over the plywood!

The kids definitely get their artist skills from Daddy.....

I drew the flower....the same flower i've been drawing for probably 20 years....it's about all I can do so after that I started to doodle the kids names and birthdays. See the cat face....Rylie drew....talented like her Daddy!

Rylie also traced the phone and Owen did a little army scene with an airplane and truck!

Another scene Owen did....see the stick figure with the red bow and red pitchfork....i'm wondering if that is supposed to be Katelin and he is implying she is a little devil child (because trust me....her devilish side definitely comes out often and it's often directed towards the big kids!)

We all had a lot of fun....I think Daddy and I may have had a bit more fun with the shrinky dinks....we were up until after midnight working on them with no kids!

You might be the child of a redneck if......

you look like this....
if your covering up in the front yard after taking care of business (honestly, she was just playing in the dirt not pottying in the dirt though nothing would surprise me with this child).....

your playing on a mound of mulch in your backyard (this would also apply to you might be the child of a tree trimmer if.....)

your cooking your dinner over an open fire in your driveway......

this is your so called "hayride" (the credit here has to go to my good friend Monica's husband Jeremey....very creative and the kids had a blast.)

you practice your spelling words on the windows ( a very effective way to practice his words and he gets to clean the windows when he's done)

your a 3 year old aspiring tattoo artist.....

and you practice on your 1 year old brother....

your dad does this when he is bored.....

and he ends up creating this
(this also applies to a child of a tree trimmer).....

your playground is actually a snow plow.....

you are 1 with a mexican mustache and gotee......

one more view.....

your a 1 year old with plumbers butt.....

and last but not least...you pick your nose at the dinner table.....

7 years ago today.....

I was holding my brand new bouncing baby boy....Owen Andrew Farage and he has been bringing love and happiness to our lives every day since.....I shared his birth story last year so if you want to read it then click here!

His first couple of weeks were a little rough when him and Rylie got RSV but he is one tough little guy and after 10 days at Children's Mercy came home happy and healthy.....
1st Birthday....he'd been walking for about a month and was ready to take on the world!

2nd Birthday....fast on his way to being a rough and tumble little boy, talking and keeping up with his sister!
I am missing about 6 months worth of pictures from my computer from 2008 so I will have to find the disk with birthday # 3 but this was the year he became a big brother, stated preschool and LOVED wocolate milk (at least thats how he said it)!

4th Birthday....the year he got his gator and man did he get our money's worth of that thing, he drove it all fo the time!

5th birthday.....my boy started kindergarten this year, starting to get so grown up!

6th birthday....he loves army and he was thrilled when his oldest brother came to his party in his army gear and he was so happy to be a big brother again and this time to have a baby brother!

And now my sweet boy is 7.....he still loves army stuff, Xbox, legos, basketball and adores his baby brother. A big 1st grader now and is still bringing Love and happiness into our lives every single day!

We love you O meister.....you make us proud!!!
