Meet Captain!

As though we need more on our plate.....but we decided on another dog!

This is Captain, he is an old english mastiff.

His original owner couldn't afford to feed him so at a year old he weighed only 40lbs was skin and bones, had no hair due to mange and was pretty much dead.

The family we got him from had him for about a month or so. They nursed him back to health and posted an ad for him and that's how we found him.

Our vet said he is healthy, very lean so he will continue to put on some weight and hopefully his hair will all have grown back in the next 6 months.

Chet and Captain have really bonded and he loves all the kids.

Not a mean bone in his body, he doesn't hurt the cats but does chase them. We were going to change his name but he seems to know Captain so we will keep it.

He is only a year old so still very playful and puppy like but doesn't chew on anything but his toys, doesn't jump....just a gentle giant. And as you can see he is as tall as the cabinets.

He wasn't too sure of the snow at first but now he loves it and he loves sticks. He stays on our property and never runs off.

Even old grouchy Cayenne has been getting along with her. It's been good for the kids to have a dog to play with. They love Cayenne and she loves them but she is old and just can't hang with them like she used too. She usually stays downstairs where it is calm and quiet.
