Party, soldier and EXPLOSION!!!!

We had O's party on saturday..........it was a camo army theme, we had quite the turnout, had chili and munchies and lots of FUN!!!!
I bought face paint so the girls could camo up the boys....they did a good job!
Owen and Dylan played the part of soldier really well...............

Evan wore his camo for the day!

And then out of the blue.......a real soldier showed up to the house...........

Well actually that's Matthew, Owen's oldest brother, he is a real soldier.....my mom teased him saying he didn't have to dress up for the party......he came straight over from doing his army stuff so it worked out well!

WARNING: A Disgusting picture is coming up......if you don't like gross things do not continue reading!

So you may be wondering what EXPLOSION I am talking about......
Well let's put it this way.....I don't tend to neglect changing Evans diapers in a timely manner but when there is a lot going on with a lot of people around I may occasionally let him go longer than I should which is what happened on the night of O's bday party! Needless to say I got a valuable lesson on why I need to be more attentive to my son................and yes it was just so bad that I had to take a pic......

YES......that is poop, I have seen my fair share of diaper explosions since becoming a mother but this just may be the worst! I hope this isn't offensive to anyone but i'm just keeping it real because this is a very real part of parenthood, you just might call this the ugly part!

Blizzard of 2011

Maybe.......

it's because I stayed safely inside my home or

Maybe.......

it's because everyone pretty much listened to the weathermen and also stayed home therefore we didn't hear about wrecks and other such accidents!

But............

While it was an impressive snowfall, I guess I expected a bit more from the "storm of the century"!

However.....

I am greatful people were safe during the storm, I haven't heard of any injuries or deaths because of it and in my book that makes for a great day!

So...........enjoy some pics from the storm!!!

Here is a timelapse of our frontyard: 02/01/11 @ 11 am, 3 pm,
6 pm and the last pic is the next morning 02/02/11!
Keep your eye on the stones around the flagpole.

Chet had to shovel an area for the pups!

Tanner preferred to stay out of the snow but Laney had fun!

On the left is our backyard and Chets truck tracks!
On the right are pics Chet took of the birdfeeder and the cedar trees!

More pics Chet took a view from the birdhouse and an icicle on the feeder!

And the older kids spent most the day playing together in their bedrooms so I didn't get pics of them but they all 3 played so nicely together all day.......it was sooooo nice!!! Evan loves looking outside so instead of standing with him at the window all day we moved his seat so he could play and enjoy the view. It was awfully brightso we only left him their for a short time!

And I will end this post with a little bit of personal history........
on 2/01/05 I was in labor with Owen and headed to the hospital about 6pm which was the heaviest of the storm......there was no snow on the ground in 2005!

And in 2009 we were able to wear t-shirts outside during Owen's birthday party, it was a gorgeous day (everyone hung out outside and O got to drive around his new gator powerwheels)! Tomorrow for his party we are expecting a high of 33 degrees, I think we will stay inside, at least he got a DSi and can play with it indoors!!!!

Dinner, presents, cake.......

It's been a tradition in our family to take the kids out to dinner whereever they want to go on the night of their birthday...............where do you think Owen picked????
Actually, McDonalds was his first choice but I told him we needed to go at least a step above fast food so I suggested either Fritz's or Red Robin......and he chose Red Robin!

So i'm sure your dying to know how we ended up at Fritz's???? Well Rylie really didn't want to go to Red Robin so I think she convinced Owen to change his mind to Fritz's.....she's a bit of a control freak but we sure do Love her!

If you have never been to Fritz's you should try it sometime.....it doesn't exactly have the best food ever but it's kind of cool. There is a phone at the table and you call in your order and then a choo choo train delivers your food to you. I was a little disappointed the first time I ever went expecting it to be a little more than what it is but still kinda cool. Katelin really enjoyed it this time!

Owen was dying to open his gifts so while we were waiting for the food we let him......

Can you tell what he got???

A DSi XL, just like his sister has (but in blue, of course). That is all Daddy and I got him (they aren't exactly cheap and he was estatic with it.) Grammy got him a game and an accessory kit with an awesome case for it, he kept putting it in and taking it out. He said it is like having a briefcase!

And of course I made a cake and got out our "Todays your Special Day" plate.......

As you can see he cleaned his plate, do you notice the cake being very blue in the middle......well Owen wanted to help decorate and the sprinkles came out faster than he thought so we had a big clump in the middle. That was the best I could get them spread around. Everyone said it was good but it was chocolate and well if you know me at all then you know that I HATE chocolate (weird, I know!).

So he still has a small party to look foward to on Saturday, we are doing a camo army theme and that will close the chapter on Owen's 6th birthday......until next year!!!!!

Of course, this is a memorable year with the Blizzard of 2011, don't worry I will post on that very soon (did you really have any doubt???) Chet says i'm a blog addict but I think someday the kids will really be glad that I did this, I know I will.

Happy Birthday Owen!

Well today my sweet boy turns 6 and since I didn't have this blog when Owen and Rylie were really little, i'm sort of playing catch up with it......so enjoy the photos of my boy through the years!!!!!

As A Baby.............

When he was 1............
When he was 2..........
When he was 3............

When he was 4...............

When he was 5..............
And now my sweet boy is 6..............it's hard to believe!
Happy Birthday Owen, I LOVE you more than you will ever know!
And yes buddy even to the universe and back!!!!!

Owens Birth Story

6 years ago today.....was a Tuesday and I was 4 days past my due date with Owen! And since I was a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) I had to go into labor on my own or I would have a repeat c-section in 2 days (which I really did not want)!  Lucky for me, I woke up about 6 am with some contractions, I didn't get to excited because I knew they just may be braxton hicks.

At the time Chet and I were seperated (if you don't know that story, don't worry it ended up being the best thing to happen to us and we are now living happily ever after.) and I was living with my mom. She was at work and I chose not to tell her anything because if you know my mom, she would have been panicking.

I, of course, had Rylie(2 1/2) with me but I also had Haylie(4) and Dylan(14 mo) and Caden (20 mo), so a bit of a full house! My contractions stayed consistent and were becoming stronger as the day went on but sort of quit intensifying in the afternoon so Darcy (Caden's mom) stayed with the kids and Natalie took me to the doctor. I saw Susan, one of the midwives, and she stripped my membranes (Chet is highly disturbed by this term and I think that is just hilarious!!!)

That is all it took, that was about 2:00 and things started rolling from there. My mom got home around 5 or so and we headed to the hospital by 6:00 and I swear she hit every bump possible on the way there.

Jeane is my midwife....I have known her since my pregnancy with Rylie (that was the year she became a CNM),while she did not deliver Rylie, she has delivered the rest of my kids. I can not say enough wonderful things about her, she is just the BEST ever. She helped me through a very difficult time while pregnant with Owen and without her i'm not sure I would have successfully delivered my last two kids naturally.

Anyway, she met us up at Shawnee Mission Medical Center where I got checked in and got my epidural. I had a whole crew of people up there until Jeane kindly kicked them all out so I could try to get some sleep. Sleep never came but I was able to rest. Owen's heart rate kept dipping and all of a sudden they were unplugging my bed, giving me the nasty c-section cocktail, shaving me and ready to wheel me off for another emergency c-section when Jeane told everybody to stop and she had me flip on my side and his heartrate came back up, I kept having to flip from one side to another but it kept his heartrate up and kept me out of the OR. I am forever greatful that Jeane didn't let them do the c-section, I so wanted to experience a vaginal birth and I have been fortunate now to have had 3 successful VBAC's. So Jeane- Thank You!

Midnight came and went and it was finally time to start pushing, I pushed for about 10 minutes and at 1:29am on Wednesday February 2 2005 I gave birth to my beautiful blond hair, blue eyed baby boy. Owen Andrew Farage weighed in at 8lbs 10.5oz. and 20 inches long. My mom, Natalie and Mandy were all there to witness it.
He is named Owen after his daddy (middle name), Grandpa (Chet's dad's middle name also) and Chet's grandpa's first name and Andrew is after my grandpa!
It was absolute love at first sight.....I had expected a baby that looked like Rylie so I was surprised when he came out pale with very blond hair and being such a chunk. Rylie came to meet him later that day and loved him right away and his Daddy came to meet him that night. I took him home 2 days later.

Then after having him home for 2 days Rylie got admitted to Children's Mercy Hospital with RSV and later that day Owen was also admitted. I will share that story another day!
So that is the story of Owen's birth, a story I love, a day that I love! I love this boy of mine more that I could ever express......he has made my life better in every way and has brought joy to me every single day!!!!

These are a few of O's favorite things.........

So this week is all about my O..........can you guess why????

Well it's because this is his birthday week, and he is going to be 6 on February 2.....I know, I know, I can't hardly believe it either!

So can you figure out his favorite things............ OK,I will go ahead and tell ya!!!

Nerf guns, his containers full of army guys, pirates, super heroes, trucks, all that boy stuff! Also football, the KC Chiefs, video games, his mudtruck comforter and mudtrucks too. There is also his lava lamp, oreo cookies and his baby brother (he really really likes his baby brother)!

Don't get me wrong he loves his sisters too but there is just something about his baby brother! He also really likes to pick on his sisters and make them mad!!!!

His favorite color is blue (though I think camo comes in a very close second), he wants to be a cop when he grows up, he says he has no plans to ever get married or have kids (however, I think that will change one day)!
He is senstive and sweet, gets his feelings hurt easily, loves to make funny sounds and loves animals!

He answers to several nicknames O man, O meister, bubba. bubberoo, buberoni, O O, and Andy (this is a thing between him and his daddy)

He is an all around boys boy, a very good boy with a bit of an onery side!

He has the brightest blue eyes and the biggest heart and he is a proud "mama's boy! And his mama his proud to call him her boy!

He is very loved by everyone who knows him!

A Little of this......

and a Little of that!

What do you do when you are 5 months old and you are sitting in your bouncy chair and you want out but you don't see that nice lady who feeds you and holds you and kisses you ALL the time................
Well.....you wiggle and you wiggle until you have no choice but to wait for that mama lady to come and get you! (Which I was only one room away and he hadn't cried at all so I guess he really thought he could get where he wanted to go, all on his own, it sure made me laugh a little)!

Katelin got some potato heads for Christmas, they will entertain her for quite a while......she likes to make people she knows!

This particular day, she made Daddy (the one with the mustache), Mommy (the one with the big purple nose and red shoes) and Grammy (the one with a green hat and orange ears)! I see the resemblance, don't you???

I'm not sure if i've mentioned it before but my husband it a Mr. Fix It, he can do just about anything around the house or in a vehicle which saves us a lot of headaches and money. But he is also very creative and talented with stuff and is always coming up with fun stuff for the kids......so what did he come up with this time???

That would be a cardboard airplane he made out of an old box. He made it after the kids went to bed and left it in Owen's room. He woke me up early the next morning and said, "Mama i'm hungary and who made that big paper airplane?"  It was cute!

It only survived a day or two but the kids had fun with it while it lasted. It amazes me how the most expensive toys can go untouched yet the cheapest, strangest things can bring endless fun to the kids. I'm glad my kids have great imaginations and don't need to always have expensive, battery powered toys to entertain them!

I'll leave you with one more pic of my precious little crew......my younger two have some pretty goofy faces going on here!!!
